OUR TEAM
-
Grant Lestock-Kay
OWNER
First exposed to mountain biking through a middle school bike club, Grant's interest in bikes quickly evolved into a full-blown obsession. Grant started working at Cowichan Cycles in 2011 as a bike builder and slowly transitioned into his role as a mechanic. In 2016 Grant purchased Cowichan Cycles from the original owner Robin, and continues to run it today.
-
Doug McQueen
WORKSHOP MANAGER
Doug is a bike industry veteran and his knowledge is immediately apparent when he begins chatting bikes. Doug’s official role is our workshop manager but is more than happy to find himself helping with guidance on the sales floor. Doug’s bike knowledge is vast but we have noticed him come to life particularly when getting in to the intricacies of suspension and wheel builds.
-
Seamus George
MECHANIC
Seamus first became involved with the shop as a member of the race team, but his mechanical aptitude and easygoing demeanour made him a perfect fit for a permanent role. Methodical and efficient, he’s grown into an integral part of our team. When he’s not working on your bike, you can find him ripping down Prevost or skiing on the mainland.
-
Pat Trottier
MECHANIC
Back in the day, Pat worked for Cowichan Cycles as the very first employee! After a 10 year hiatus, he has come full circle to continue chasing his passion. Now happily back in bikes, Pat is a valuable new / old member of our team. Personable, laid back, and stoked on bikes, we are thrilled to have Pat back turning wrenches.
-
Alek Mackie
SALES & INVENTORY
After nearly 10 years in corporate high tech, Alek recently returned to his first career passion, working in the bike shop. An artist with a love of custom steel bikes, gruelling gravel grinds and long walks on the beach, he brings a diverse wealth of knowledge, warmth and a hint of deviant comedy to the sales floor.
-
Bill Steele
MECHANIC
Bill has dedicated his life to cycling and his enthusiasm is infectious. He has a depth of technical knowledge that only comes with years of bicycle obsession. Whether chatting about the intricacies of suspension damping or the tube thickness and butting profile of your steel frame, Bill is your guy.
-
Ava Morgan
SALES & INVENTORY
Ava is our dedicated Ridewrap technician and apprentice mechanic. She’s a Level 1 certified PMBI mountain biking coach and multisport athlete. When she’s not servicing her own suspension and building wheels at home, she’s shredding local trails and bike parks on her custom painted Ibis.
