DT Swiss EX 471 Rim, 29", 28h

While technically an "enduro" rim, the DT Swiss 471 has a cult like following in both enduro and downhill. Made famous from Aaron Gwin's Leogang race run where he rode a large section of the track with the tire blown off the rim and the wheel remaining in tact. This rim strikes a great balance of durability and compliance. Its relatively narrow 25mm internal width gives modern tires a rounder profile that can result in a more consistent transition from centre to cornering knobs. This might cause tires to break free and start sliding easier but theoretically could produce a more controlled slide for those riders with enough skill to manage a drift.
